Virginia Ski Resorts
There is snow falling in the mountains so now is the time to enjoy the wide variety of outdoor winter fun Virginia has to offer. Virginia’s Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains are home to four ski resorts that offer downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Fortunately, for our residents they are all just a day trip away from Embrey Mill. It’s fun for the whole family from beginner skiers to the most experienced. Here are a few resorts we recommend, that are all within driving distance.
Wintergreen Resort is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains southwest of Charlottesville, Va. Ski slopes range from the double black Cliffhanger to Diamond Hill for beginners. There is an on-site spa and high quality restaurants.
Massanutten Resort means days spent on a 1,100-foot vertical drop with great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Don’t miss the terrain park for riders, ski boarders, and twin tip skiers. Bonus, all of the slopes are lit for night action.
The Homestead has welcomed travelers to Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains for more than two centuries. The Homestead has seven ski trails and an Olympic-sized ice skating rink at the base of the slopes, snow tubing, a Ski Shop and restaurant, a top-rated Ski School, a Bunny School, ski equipment and snowboard rentals.
Bryce Mountain has long catered to skiing families and is only two hours from Washington, D.C. The area has 25 acres of skiable terrain and a vertical of around 500 feet. There are five lifts servicing eight runs.
So what are you waiting for, get planning for your next ski vacation!
