5 Reasons Lake Anna is a Weekender Must
Get your splash on come summertime at Lake Anna, a local favorite of Embrey Mill residents. Only about an hour’s drive from door to shore, Lake Anna offers easy boat launch access and plenty of activities in, out, and around the water.
1. It’s a boater’s paradise
There are several marinas at Lake Anna for easy launch. You’ll enjoy sparkling waters and over 200 miles of shoreline and 13,000 surface acres of water just waiting for your skis. Thanks to its sheer size, it’s easy to find your own little slice of the lake to unwind.
2. There are plenty of water-based activities
Beyond simply swimming on the lake, there are many other things to do. If watersports are your passion, take part in a friendly match at one of the many in-water volleyball nets. For an adrenaline rush, rent a jet ski and traverse the lake. Don’t forget to bring the fishing rods! With over thirty-three species of fish that are restocked regularly, you might just get the catch of the day.
3. Staying overnight is easy
Lake Anna gives you several options to enjoy an overnight stay. At High Point Marina, the Lighthouse Inn provides waterfront views. Private cabins are also available on the water’s edge, great for family getaways. If you prefer a more rustic experience, Christopher Run Campground is available. At the campgrounds, you can also enjoy rental RVs, canoes, boat ramps, and a playground.
4. Enjoy your day outside of the water
Once you’ve had your fill of the water, there are plenty of other activities to partake in. Lake Anna State Park has miles of nature trails for an afternoon spent hiking. And of course, what better way to end a long day of outdoor adventures than with a nice glass of wine? At Lake Anna Winery, you can brush up on your sommelier skills while trying local wines.
5. There are exciting adventures nearby
Beyond the lake itself, Lake Anna is located within easy driving distance of several other Virginia favorites. If you’re in the mood to get airborne, take a flight lesson at Central Virginia Flight Services or go skydiving at SkyDive Orange. End the evening with an old-fashioned drive-in movie at Goochland Drive-In. And of course, we can’t forget Virginia’s premiere theme park – King’s Dominion – located a half-hour away.
The long weekends that summer provides are a great opportunity to spend your time making memories and exploring the areas around your Embrey Mill home. Lake Anna is only one of the many weekend trips you can easily take near the community. Stay tuned, because we’ve got plenty more to share with you.
